Artwork Statement
Toa embodies strength without hesitation, a presence of unwavering mana.
The wahine’s gaze is steady and uncompromising, both a challenge and an invitation. Her moko kauae speaks of whakapapa and authority, while te whatu manawa, the mark of deep intuition upon her forehead, signals vision that extends beyond the visible world, being aligned within oneself and grounded to Papatūānuku.
The bold palette of reds, blues, and oranges radiates vitality and warmth, each layer built upon textured depths that suggest years of lived experience. She is not in transition, but fully present, aware, and resolute in her being.
Toa stands as a pou that is fierce, attuned, and unapologetic. She reminds us that strength is not in defiance alone, but in knowing who we are and standing firmly in that truth.
